As a company, we have prioritised environmental responsibility when it comes to selecting suppliers and partners for wine storage, packaging and distribution. Although we are only a small company in the UK, we think it's important to minimise our environmental impact as much as possible and our goal is to be carbon negative by the end of 2023.
Please see below for the current initiatives. We welcome all enquiries for businesses who believe that they can help us improve our environmental credentials, whilst maintaining our goal of bringing our customers wines from some of the finest wine-growing regions in the world.
International Freight We have partnered with Hillebrand Gori as our global logistics partner, who are part of Deutsche Post DHL. That means that they are committed to hitting net-neutral carbon emissions goals by 2030. The transportation journey through France is optimised via several stages of consolidation warehouses and goods are delivered, by boat, to Tilbury Port. Its close proximity to our Fulham wine cellar, around just 30 miles, minimises road freight requirements. |

Business Travel Staff are encouraged to conducted all work-related journeys via rail and our ZipCar car sharing partnership wherever possible - which is in over 90% of cases. |

General Procurement Lacbleu is part of the Amazon Preferred Sustainability Certification programme, which means we purchase products (e.g. shipping labels, void filler, etc) from suppliers who prioritise the 11 Climate Pledge Friendly certifications - including supporting biodiversity, reduced carbon impact, use of safer chemicals, energy and packaging efficiency, use of recycled materials, maintenance of water and soil quality. |

Becoming Carbon Negative There are some elements of our manufacturing process – notably the processing, bottling of wines in glass bottles and international distribution – that present more significant challenges as there are some inherent processes of which the emissions cannot be simply eradicated or supply chains changed overnight. For those, alongside the regulatory change being led by the regional wine bodies, Lacbleu Wines has proactively teamed up with Evertreen in order to not only offset emissions, but by the end of this year we expect to be significantly carbon negative. |
The need for tree planting has never been more critical than it is today. The world is facing a climate crisis, and tree planting is a highly effective way to combat it. Trees act as a natural carbon sink and can help mitigate the impact of climate change. In addition, trees help prevent soil erosion and support biodiversity by providing habitats for various species of animals and insects.
Below is a view of the number of trees that Lacbleu has planted so far in collaboration with Evertreen, along with an estimation of the number of tonnes of CO2 that have been absorbed from the atmosphere.
